Problem:

Oncology And Kids (OAK) is a Non-profit organization based in San Diego that specializes in providing emotional and mental relief for childhood cancer victims through in-person summer camps. The CEO, Bernard Mauricia, tasked us with the following challenges:

1. A comprehensive website redesign to improve user experience, enhance accessibility, and better communicate OAK’s mission and services.

2. Create and promote a recurring giving program that encourages donors to make consistent contributions, providing reliable financial support for OAK’s year-round efforts 

3. Build a stronger online presence for connecting with a broader audience. This includes crafting targeted campaigns, engaging content, and impactful storytelling to amplify OAK’s visibility across social media platforms.

4. Research and design a toolkit to support children and families with resources, strategies, and activities designed to promote emotional well-being both during and beyond camp experiences.

Solution:

Based on insights gathered from user research surveys conducted on the previous OAK website, I spearheaded the creation of a visually focused redesign to better meet the needs of our stakeholders. The new design strategically segmented the website into three primary user demographics: Families/Campers, Volunteers, and Donors.

By tailoring the navigation and content to these distinct groups, the redesign ensures each audience finds relevant information quickly and effortlessly. Families and campers are provided with easy access to resources, camp schedules, and support tools. Volunteers can seamlessly discover opportunities, application details, and FAQs. Donors are guided toward impactful stories and transparent donation processes that inspire ongoing support.

This approach not only improved the website’s overall user experience but also aligned with OAK’s mission of fostering connection and engagement across all its stakeholders.
